THE SHORT ANSWER

Dawnwalker is a single-player, open-world action RPG built around Coen’s two forms. You have 30 days and 30 nights to pursue saving his family, but exploration is not governed by a continuously ticking clock.

You are Coen, not an anonymous adventurer

The story takes place in a fictional region of the Carpathian Mountains, against the backdrop of 14th-century Europe. War and plague have weakened human society, and a vampire ruler, Brencis, has taken control of Vale Sangora. Coen’s family gives his journey a personal objective rather than an abstract assignment to clear the map.

Coen is a Dawnwalker: human during the day, vampire at night. The distinction changes the tools available to you. Your decisions shape his path, but the protagonist has an existing family, history and place in the world.

Think in two sets of possibilities

Daytime combines swordplay with human-form magic. Official material describes learning witchcraft from texts and using blood-linked spells. At night, Coen gains vampiric tools such as claws, fangs and supernatural movement, including wall climbing shown in the features video.

Night also introduces Blood Hunger. The official Q&A warns that failing to drink enough blood can make Coen lose control and attack NPCs. His night form is therefore not simply a free upgrade: it changes both his capabilities and the risks around other people.

Learn what actually spends time

The rescue objective is framed around 30 days and 30 nights, but the game does not run a real-time countdown while you wander. Exploration and combat do not advance the clock. Completing quests and some other actions can spend time, with the Q&A identifying an hourglass indicator for choices that carry a cost.

The features video also says learning abilities can advance time. That makes preparation a decision, not something to avoid automatically: the same video explicitly says upgrading Coen need not ruin a satisfying outcome. Read the cost before committing and choose the opportunities that matter to your intended story.

Find a combat style, then explore

Adaptive omniattack and omniblock choose sword directions automatically. Directional combat asks you to observe movement and control your response more deliberately. Both approaches still involve active abilities, and unblockable attacks remain something you must dodge.

The valley contains settlements, forests, swamps, caves, mountains and old ruins. Exploration can lead to knowledge, equipment and allies. Because ordinary exploration does not consume the narrative clock, there is an important difference between looking around and committing to a time-costing activity.

A useful first-session mindset

Begin by learning the time indicators, the strengths of your current form and the combat options that feel readable to you. These are preparation priorities based on the announced systems, not a claimed optimal opening route. There is no verified universal quest order in this guide.

Dawnwalker is designed around choices and missed opportunities. You are not promised enough time to help everyone, and failing to save the family within the deadline does not simply end the game. Aim to understand the consequences you are choosing, rather than treating every map marker as an obligation on a completion checklist.

Questions before the journey?

Is the whole game on a real-time timer?

No. Exploration and combat do not continuously spend time. Quests and particular actions advance the narrative clock.

Do I create my own character?

You play the named protagonist Coen. The cited material does not establish a freeform character creator.

Is this a tested walkthrough?

This guide explains the systems shown and described by the developers. It does not claim a hands-on completed playthrough or an optimal quest route.
